Position Requirements
- One who exhibits a personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ, a teachable spirit and a healthy family life
- One who is capable of creating and executing a long-term vision for the youth ministry
- One who is gifted and is called to youth ministry, loves young people and has a passion for evangelism and outreach, both personally and at the ministry level
- An engaging teacher, with a strong biblical background, able to preach from the pulpit
- A self-motivated leader, capable of casting and imparting vision for ministry, possessing relational skills with students, parents and staff
- Strong leader that is personable and will go above and beyond for the cause of Jesus Christ
- Responsibly split time between youth ministry and all other ministry duties (60/40 goal)
Qualifications
- An individual who exhibits a personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ
- Maintains a teachable spirit and has a personal life in line with the biblical description of a leader
- Bachelor’s degree in Biblical studies or related field required
- Minimum 2-5 years of experience in a pastoral or ministry leadership role
- Experienced, engaging teacher/preacher with a strong biblical background, who agrees with ACEFC’s Statement of Faith
- The successful individual will be a self-starter, not requiring a great deal of supervision, with a solid work ethic and willingness to do what it takes to get the job done
- Licensed or ordained or willing to go through the ordination process and/or seminary
- Submit to all required background and criminal history checks
- Possessing the following qualities would be a plus:
- Experience leading and executing vision for church ministries
- Experience with digital media and/or website design
- Experience in establishing and monitoring ministry budgets
- Has a heart to serve the rural Iowa demographic
Responsibilities
- Lead and organize effective youth programs (7th-12th grades) implementing fellowship, worship, biblical teaching, discipleship and evangelism, as well as ministry and mission opportunities
- Recruit, train and shepherd volunteer youth staff with diverse gifts and personalities
- Provide counseling and spiritual direction to youth on an individual basis
- Maintain contact with students and parents, keeping them informed of ongoing activities
- Keep parents updated on ministry strategies and plans in a way that encourages partnership and involvement
- Support parents in effectively fulfilling their Christian parenting roles, in concert with other pastoral staff
- Assist in the development and oversight of the youth ministry budget; also manage student fees for events and trips; a member on the Christian Education (CE) Board
- Participate as needed or requested in the evaluation and development of the overall church ministry
- Preach in the Sunday morning services 1 to 2 times a quarter as directed by the Senior Pastor
- Participate with the Senior Pastor and Elders in the congregational care of ACEFC members and attenders
- Perform other duties and tasks as needed to support the overall ministry; reporting directly to the Senior Pastor
