In February 2019, at the Allegheny District Conference, former district superintendent Jeff Powell announced he would be stepping down from his role. After a 12-month, prayerful process by a search team of district pastors and church leaders—guided by EFCA President Kevin Kompelien and assisted by the research firm of NL Moore and Associates—Pastor Kerry Doyal has been selected to become the fifth district superintendent of the Allegheny District EFCA.
Pastor Kerry and his wife, Robin, have served EFCA churches in Brooklyn, New York; Waukegan and Round Lake, Illinois; Kingsport, Tennessee; and Sarver, Pennsylvania. Kerry has served in four EFCA districts and in national ministry with the EFCA Spiritual Heritage Committee, the Board of Ministerial Standing and the Tenure Committee at Trinity International University.
Kerry has ministered in rural, suburban, urban and international contexts. He has a heart for cross-cultural ministry, having led a multi-ethnic church plant, served on the board of a missions agency reaching Muslims for Christ, and traveled to and ministered in India, Mexico, Costa Rica, Haiti, Peru and Italy. Kerry has been a frequent speaker at youth camps and retreats and, for four seasons, was the chaplain of a minor league baseball team. His writings on the Christian life and ministry have appeared in numerous publications, including the EFCA Blog.
"After months of prayer and an excellent search process, the Lord has answered our prayers," said President Kompelien. "Rejoice with me at the Lord’s provision as we welcome Kerry Doyal as the new superintendent in the Allegheny District."
Kerry and Robin were married in 1984 and now have five adult children. Kerry received his B.A. in Bible and Missions from Columbia International University (1985) and holds the Master of Divinity from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (1990). He was ordained in the EFCA in 1994 and brings a wealth of ministry experience to this new role. Kerry looks forward to shepherding pastors and leaders from the 35 churches and church plants in the Allegheny District.
We are greatly encouraged by the Lord’s provision of Kerry Doyal to lead the Allegheny District, and we joyfully anticipate God’s blessing on us as we seek together to glorify God by multiplying transformational churches among all people for His glory.
Join us in celebrating God’s goodness and praying for a smooth and seamless transition.
