New Executive Vice President of National Ministries Named

Eddie Cole will join EFCA national leadership.

May 20, 2019

President Kevin Kompelien has named Eddie Cole as the new executive vice president of national ministries.

Eddie will join EFCA national leadership filling this important position focused on partnering with EFCA churches, districts and leaders. He comes to the EFCA national office staff with extensive experience in both local church and district leadership, having served as a senior pastor and as district superintendent of the Eastern District Association. Eddie is also a member of the EFCA Board of Directors.

Born and raised in Tennessee, Eddie met Christ as a junior studying political science at East Tennessee State University. After sensing God’s call to vocational ministry, Eddie transferred to Liberty University to prepare for ministry and there met his wife, Jessica. After leaving school, they served for several years in the Bible Belt. Eddie was youth pastor at his home church, Higher Ground Baptist Church in Kingsport, Tennessee, and then lead pastor at Southside Baptist Church in Talladega, Alabama.

While in Alabama, Eddie and Jessica felt called to leave the southeast to go to a city underserved with the gospel. This pursuit took them back to school and then to New York City. Though they intended to plant a church, they were surprised by God with the privilege of doing ministry together at Salem Church (EFCA) in Staten Island. From 2003-2016, Eddie served as lead pastor and Jessica was director of worship and creative arts.

The years at Salem were uniquely blessed, as the church experienced revitalization and reached many people for Christ. This equipped Eddie and Jessica to minister to the many people groups from around the world who've moved to America. It was also while serving at Salem that they grew to appreciate and love the EFCA.

With a desire to share the gospel in word and deed, Eddie’s calling is to come alongside pastors and leaders helping them live well, lead well and multiply their ministries with vision and passion.

In addition to serving as district superintendent for the last three years, Eddie speaks frequently at churches, conferences, and retreats. Eddie is a graduate of Liberty University and earned his D.Min. at Dallas Theological Seminary with an emphasis in discipleship of leadership. He and Jessica have one grown daughter, Madison, who is married and lives in Brooklyn, New York.

Join us in thanking the Lord for clearly leading in the selection process and pray for Eddie as he transitions into this new role.
